#LGBTHistoryMonth shows that positive and enduring change is possible when governments have the bravery to deliver it.
The last Labour Government did more to advance LGBT+ equality than any in history.
The next will make Britain a beacon of LGBT+ freedom and equality again. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐

I donโt do much media anymore. Being in the Lords require a different sort of influencing and itโs pretty #brutal out there for a queer woman trying to make a nuanced point.
But I do the occasional podcast and you donโt say no to Crystal from #dragrace. Itโs a bit sweary, I forgot others might listen but itโs the history of things that made me queer this #LGBTHistoryMonth

Queer theory opens a space for challenging how knowledge and expertise can be weaponised against LGBTQ people. In doing so they challenge what has come to be accepted as objective and neutral.

On display in the museum are a few of the items we've collected relating to LGBT+ history including artwork by local trans woman, Katie Wilson, and Roman hairpins, often excavated from soldiers' barracks. We'll be discussing the significance of this location in tomorrow's post so stay tuned!
Queer people often have to create the cultures they wish to live in. This is especially true in cultures where cishet patriarchy and homophobia are the norm.

if you go,
and I should want to die,
thereโs nothing Iโd be saved by
more than the time
you fell asleep in my armsโฆ

sitting on the step

facing each other
your knees held in mineโฆ

No smoke without you, my fire.
After you left,
your cigarette glowed on in my ashtray
and sent up a long thread of such quiet grey
I smiled to wonder who would believe its signal
of so much loveโฆ

Intersectionality isn't just another theory, it is a means to extend solidarity and create activism and change that addresses all manner of oppression. It recognises how the liberation of one group is tied to the liberation of another.
