@agatha Mornings are rarely good. For example, this morning the latest update for #LMDE5 borked my new computer because one of the system packages was broken. Having searched for a potential repair, which just sent me round in circles, I've decided that I'm going to have to reinstall from scratch.

I'd forgotten what 'fun' can be had building a new #computer. Physically getting it together wasn't too bad, apart from not being able to work out how to fit the 'remote' power switch. Getting it running properly with #Linux is another matter. For some reason #LMDE5 isn't using the correct video drivers and finding them hasn't been possible. I did read one forum message that said that Intel drivers are built into the kernel so hopefully the update will cure that.

my >15 years 100% #linux - at-home journey continues after Redhat, OpenSUSE, Pardus linux, OpenSUSE again, Manjaro (short) and for several years the nice and stable (but now feeling like a bit neglected orphan) Solus linux I installend Linux Mint Debian Edition 5 #LMDE #LMDE5 which also makes a very stable and polished first impression. Also got the citrix remote desktop workspace environment working again, a new linux distro that did not stand in the way to realise remote connection with work.

Tried #LMDE5 for a few weeks. Not bad at all, but felt in love again with #Debian 11 (XfCE-Desktop). So clean and stable!

LMDE 5 Elsie ist richtig gut. Die brauchen Ubuntu gar nicht (mehr) als Unterbau, finde ich.

@Coyote I just installed #LMDE5 on a MacBook Air for a customer earlier this week. Solved their problem and they are happy with it.

@Coyote @harsh @GirthyChode I am also really interested in #BSD and plan to do more with #OpenBSD and #netBSD.

I am also not fond of #systemd, so plan on exploring other options. I do use and like #voidlinux.

I do feel like #LinuxMint #Debian Edition #LMDE5 is a good start for beginners and I plan to use that to introduce more advanced concepts and other options.

Feel free to disagree and I am open to recommendations and different perspectives.

First day using the #corebootbook with #LMDE5. I am traveling with it and connected to wifi at another location other than my home or office.

So far #LinuxMint #Debian Edition 5 is working fine. I am writing down ideas for simple "how to" style videos.

Just to clarify, I am not a Linux Mint or Debian fanboy, but I think it is a useful place for people to start and build skills.

I successfully installed #LinuxMint #Debian Edition 5 on it. The installer still crashed at a certain point, like with LMDE4, but I found a way to work around that and did a successful installation of #LMDE5 on the Dell Chromebook 11 laptop.
