In case you were wondering how we attempted to find satellite signals in the data, here is a summary of the approach:

1. The basic idea was to use satellite (two line elements) to predict when a satellite would be crossing the field of view. For each of the beams (pixels) on the sky, whe then extract some data around these event times (+/- some seconds). These are like the spectrograms included in the paper. 7/

Tatsächlich sind die Feldstärken, die da auftreten gar nicht mal so hoch. Durchaus vergleichbar mit Elektronikartikeln aus dem Consumerbereich. Das Problem ist aber, dass Toaster oder MP3-Player meistens nicht durchs Blickfeld eines Radioteleskops fliegen.- hat ja einen sehr hohen Antennengewinn...

Today, a group of scientists including @cees and Yours truly published a paper on A&A. We report about a fascinating finding: constellations can leak electromagnetic radiowaves, originating from onboard electronics, which we detected using the radio telescope. 1/

A very nice study from my colleagues in . It detects low frequency emission leaked from Starlink satellites. They only focus on the effects in astronomy but there may be also security implications if there is information leaked in this unintended emission. cps.iau.org/news/new-radio-ast
