Model averages issued in April predict the rest of the year pretty well maybe half the time. Other times they only miss by a bit.

But occasionally, the oceans do something totally unexpected.

#LaNiña is the cooling phase but record temps have been growing every year. Does that mean we are expecting extremely extreme temps during #ElNiño?

The cool area of the Pacific previously associated with La Niña has now fully dissipated, and neutral conditions exist in the Pacific.

IRI/CPC predicts a likely return of El Niño later this year.

Longtime #norcal resident and weather geek. Yesterday, at my place, marked the first time in >15 yrs that we have reached average annual rainfall for this area. Not out of a drought yet but having the #LaNina cycle off sure helps.
