2/ Alan worked 30 more years in the glass container industry and enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement. His brother George worked most of his career at the Fawley Oil Refinery, UK’s largest. Robert worked on the QE2’s engines which propelled it over 2.6 million nautical miles, and received an MBE in recognition of his lifelong labours.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all the workers of the world as we celebrate Labour Day 2023.

My Dad, Alan, between two of his brothers, Robert and George in this photo here, taken when they all were retired. Dad, a skilled machinist, was a #union man all his life. Came to Canada in ‘53 worked for Rolls Royce Aircraft engine division, Ford in Windsor until the ‘54 strike and on the Avro Arrow until Black Friday in ‘59. #LabourDay #LaborDay #solidarity

**Fairness**

Some thoughts about May, 1st, the international #labourday.

I think these days many things come together that describe the situation in the world pretty precisely. Here are some examples.

Mastodon, our network is a good start. Many people come here to flee from #Twitter. The reason is that the richest man in the world spends an unbelievable amount of money to take over one of the most important opinion-shaping networks. Alone the fact that this is possible is remarkable.

Furthermore, there are drastic #priceincreases, that cause empty wallets in 90% of the people. Many of these increases are purely caused by speculation. The market reacts to fear, not to a real shortage. Only some speculators will benefit.

Hourly, we see additional messages like that - like the 18-year-old boy that inherits 3.3 billion Euros.

The gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger every day.

#LabourDay wishes to all front line workers.

Because of them we are staying safe indoors. I wished them & said thank you.

They said we are being very kind & that's not the case everywhere. They had to face rowdies in some places against testing 😣
