So....#Lagrange #polynomials. They are pretty dang clever and pretty dang amazing. You can get an analytic (if that's the word I want) polynomial fit! That you can take a continuous derivative!

For arbitrary data, I can see why it might not work.

But for a physical object that actually is moving according to a 2nd-order kinematics (piecewise--really 3rd-order overall) but all you have data for the the first two orders, it might be a good way to recover the higher order(s).

Qualunque corpo si trovi nei punti di Lagrange, insomma, tende a rimanerci. Tant'è che, se mi chiedete quanti satelliti ha la Terra, vi dirò "forse più di uno". E infatti, nel 2010, è stato trovato un piccolo asteroide che segue la Terra, nel punto L4.

Tried #lagrange #gemini yesterday on a Android phone and faced with a quite unexpected behavior when lost LTE signal. It basically refused to load anything from cache gathered an hour ago or earlier. `Sorry no internet connection`, get the hell outta here. That's what I've got. Does it really mean the protocol itself or maybe the client simply does not support basic caching? I believe the simple caching has been exposed in HTTP since 1.1 meaning quite a long time ago.

CC @tolstoevsky maybe you'll be interested or have an answer.

@ludens btw if you're new to Gemini, #Lagrange is probably the best mobile app out there. You have to add #skyjake's repo to #fdroid or use TestFlight on iOS.
