I've just learned the concept of 'sediment deficit'; in natural ecosystems there is a need for some level of erosion. A #sediment deficit may increase channel narrowing & gully formations downhill.

Eg, "In small mountain streams, channel narrowing is mainly explained by channel incision which seems to progress from upstream where sediment sources are progressively stabilized by afforestation" https://doi.org/10.1002/esp.328 -

So #afforestation may generate #erosion!!
