The European economy is in decline and one of the fusty neo-liberal economists, who have been consistently wrong about their growth forecasts for the last 15 years, has come to the stark realisation that we have simply imported low inflation from China and cheap gas from Russian; and while cheap consumer goods from China may have been a palliative for the decline in manufacturing on the continent, when both of these are gone this economic base crumbles and sets up the next phase of late-stage capitalism the Marxist might call 'The End of History'.
