Happersett opinion I noted earlier today, tomorrow I will also be teaching about how the National Women’s Party and some of its predecessor organizations used the legislative process to advance the cause of women’s suffrage at the federal level. If U.S. law schools more fully taught legislative process, it would not be so exceptional to teach law students historical instances of the use of that process. #law #lawFedi #legalEducation #legislation

Tomorrow, I teach Minor v. Happersett, the 1874 U.S. Supreme Court case that decided the 14th Amendment did not extend suffrage to women. It is one of the most despicable judicial opinions I know of, yet rarely is it highlighted as such in U.S. legal education.
