Today in Labor History June 13, 1889: Amadeo Bordiga was born (d1970). Proponent of Council Communism and the Italian Communist Left, as well as a founder of the Italian Communist Party. He was a proponent of Council Communism and a major influence on the 20th century Ultra Left. He called Stalin "the gravedigger of the revolution." Bordiga was imprisoned twice by Mussolini. Lenin criticized him in his screed, "Left-Wing" Communism: An Infantile Disorder (1920).

99 years ago today, the father of all red-reactionaries finally fucking died. Lenin was nothing more than a self absorbed madman who was a liberal at best. While he claimed to be a champion of the people and an anticapitalist, he ultimately betrayed those words and erected a brutal system of state capital with himself and his allies at the top of the hierarchy. Marxist-Leninism is an anti worker cult of acceleration.

Today in Labor History January 2, 1873: Anton Pannekoek (1873-1960) was born on this date. He was a Dutch astronomer, mathematician and radical left-communist. Among other works, he published the pamphlet “Darwinism and Marxism,” 1916, which strongly attacked the social Darwinists, like Spencer, and their racist, eugenicist ideology. He also wrote the classic, “Workers Councils” and was one of the founders of the Council Communism movement, along with Otto Ruhle, of Germany. He was a sharp critic of Lenin and authoritarianism. Lenin attacked the Council Communists in his pamphlet, “Left Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder.”

Today in Labor History December 21, 1919: U.S. immigration deported anarchists Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman to Russia. The authorities deported, arrested and killed hundreds of anarchists, communists, labor leaders and radicals during the Palmer Raids (also known as the First Red Scare). It virtually destroyed the revolutionary union IWW.
