In movies, heroism can become banal - we know the hero will be vindicated, we know there's an audience (us) watching who knows the truth.

But in reality it takes real guts and shows a true sense of responsibility to speak out like this. These were senior doctors with successful careers.

The more time passes, the more surreal this video becomes. I still remember #LiWenliang who tried to warn the world when #SARS-CoV-2 was first called #nCoV-2019. 
I still remember the terrifying videos from #Wuhan. I also remember the horrifying #DiamondPrincess incident. I tried to warn my loved ones of what is coming for the world. They ridiculed me. Laughed at me. "Oh it's just a flu somwhere in China." 
Now look at our world. Look at it. One big hellscape.

But most importantly:

This novel coronavirus could only become a #pandemic because the strict top-down rule of the #CCP in #China does not honor the person who points at a problem from below or rings an alarm but punishes that person instead.

In China, the messenger always gets shot. From whistleblowing doctor #LiWenliang to citizen journalist and blogger #ZhangZhan, those who challenged the party's narrative got punished.

Do not believe the #Covid19 numbers coming from China. #propaganda

This is how #Beijing is trying to rewrite the history of #Covid19.

From silencing doctor #LiWenliang and others (December 2019) to not answering questions from #Taiwan regarding a novel virus similar to SARS (December 31st) to denying person-to-person infections all the way to January 31st, #China was not fully transparent. China tried to keep its face - and landed squarely on it instead.

Keep in mind: This critter could have been contained if it were not for the #CCP and its #censorship.

@Sujee Just as with Chernobyl in the USSR, ordinary folks in China did not do a whole lot of things wrong (not talking about rich people bribing their way out of quarantined areas and helping to spread the critter here).
Some even prioritized their duty over their well-being like the now famous doctor #LiWenliang.
#XiJingping definitely knew what he prioritized: His own health and to put the blame on local authorities. This is an ugly diplay on how authoritarian systems deal with a crisis.
