Yesssss. I've been patiently waiting for the @thunderbird SuperNova release to drop in the Pop! Shop and it arrived! The new interface is gorgeous and I'm excited to check out the improved features.
I love how much attention has been going into the design and user experience of the project lately.

Wow! I'm impressed with how quickly the #Design4Drupal team got our video recordings up.

Congratulations to the @penpot community for reaching 400K members. What a milestone!

I wanted to prototype some different solutions to a usability issue we found in MaxLength.
So, I riffed on the #Drupal Design System in Figma and started putting together a library in @penpot
It's still very much a work in progress, but I hope to eventually share it as a library and make it easier for others in the community to prototype their ideas.
Loving the new interface @thunderbird is working on for its mobile app.

@mairin I love that this exists! Looking forward to reading case studies in the future about the work y'all do and how it improves the #UX of #OpenSource projects.

Thinking about how the "do-ocracy" governance model in open source so often leads to a terrible user experience
If you use #Drupal even just occasionally, I would love your feedback on the Maxlength module.
I've set up some usability testing tasks.

We're running these as part of the Gift of Open Source community challenge, so you could end up with things like a free t-shirt from it. :)

Just finished attending the #CriticalUX Conference and it was REALLY good.
https://hmntycntrd.com/critical-ux
really juicy tensions raised around on the one hand making tools more inclusive and on the other of, well if your app is inherently extractive maybe increasing adoption from marginalized communities is not such a good thing?
And the ever present question of, how much good can be done *within* the system vs. drawing the line of not giving your labor to something?

Last week I shared my first prototype designed in @penpot with a client and it worked seamlessly.
I'm excited to move more and more professional work projects from Figma to Penpot
Really enjoyed this comic strip styled UX review of Signal's donation experience.
An excellent case study by @mairin on improving the user experience of free software tools in the medical field to help clinicians do their work more effectively.

@penpot are there places where Penpot users are posting resources they've built.
I have a set of wireframes in Figma I was thinking of porting to Penpot. If I do, I'll share it freely.
But also, if there's already a wireframe pack someone else has built for Penpot it might fit my needs.

I decided to record my first impressions using @penpot a free software design and prototyping tool.
I was really impressed! I did not expect the level of functionality and polished user experience it has.

The video and transcript of the webinar I gave with @hanabel on Consentful UX is now available.
Today at noon ET I'll be leading a webinar with my colleague Johanna Bates on the topic of Consentful UX - which we see as an antidote to the coercive, invasive design patterns we see so often on the web.
It's free to attend. Here are the details
Just learned about the frustrating decision of Chrome and Safari to not respect autocomplete=off
Another example of why having Firefox around is important, to have a modicum of pressure for the tech giants to respect us.
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=587466
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Attributes/autocomplete#Browser_compatibility
I realize #Zoom is hella problematic, but how are #Jitsi 's design patterns and moderating tools in terms of fending off "video call bombing" and bad actors joining a call and attacking people?
I haven't heard much on this front and would want to know before strongly recommending it.
I am collecting examples and counter examples of #ConsentfulDesign.
The CW feature on Mastodon is a good example. Newsletter pop ups would be a bad example.
This will be for a resource where people can look up a common bad practice and see consentful alternatives. It will be CC licensed and community-curated. All who want to be credited publicly will be.
Boosts welcomed for visibility.
Thank you!
