Daily Mail article circulating earlier with several colour pictures, umpteen paragraphs, reads like a paid promotional feature for the strip club 🙄

SBS reporting only marginally better; it seems Lidia has given someone a serve again. Jacqui Lambie comments (to “provide balance” 🤔) suggesting Lidia “take responsibility for herself” or perhaps “seek counselling”.

I *do* get the impression *some* people behave badly in secret, but others are vilified only because they are honest about who they are, and WYSIWYG.

I also get impression the “average” person judges personal behaviour more easily than “impersonal crimes” - like dropping bombs, or legislation discriminating against marginalised people, because we judge *ourselves* for the first but have little power ourselves over the latter.

I can’t guess what prompted the outburst, or if it was justified, but probably wouldn’t go to a strip club in the 1st place, assuming I WOULD encounter foul attitudes that would only piss me off.
And I’m not going to EXPECT prim and proper behaviour from Lidia - or anyone else - who works in a building populated with drunks, grifters, racists, sexists, homophobes, rapists, couch cleaners, religious nutters, members of the Cassius Club, and opportunistic tools in lycra speedos.

Instead, I’ll continue to vote (with resignation), based on what I believe candidates will vote for themselves.

I cannot possibly state enough how much I love Lidia Thorpe.

She advocates unapologetically for her people and annoys all the right folk.

James Conlan, Greens Councillor for Merri-Bek Council, has resigned from the party in solidarity with Lidia Thorpe. Citing that Greens policy since 2020 has aligned with Thorpe, and it is in fact the Greens who have abandoned Lidia, not the other way around.

Massive respect to any Greens members having the courage of their convictions rather than staying in the party, hoping for some crumbs off Labor's plate.

Endlessly impressed by Lidia, her choice to leave the Greens to better represent her community is impressive (really says something about the Greens that she felt she needed to do that).

She’s taken what power the system gives her and used it to advocate rather than be seduced to buying into it.

I can only hope to one day have the passion and fortitude of Lidia Thorpe’s little finger.

But the current situation when a Senator (or MP) can quit a party and sit as an independent (or even jump parties) robs voters of their votes for that party. And, IMHO, regardless of whether it's within the constitution, it's a flaw in our democracy!

People are entitled to ask why Lidia Thorpe ran for The Greens just last year only to walk away now, even though she had license to express her views. The Greens' preselection procedures need an overhaul.

The honourable thing to do is to quit if you can't represent the people who voted you in (Incl. me). That's what Cheryl Kernot did.

How interesting that, #LidiaThorpe of the #AusGreens was one of the few politicians that stood up against unethical and now she is being targetted for having a relationship with a man who its alleged a leader of a motorbike gang.

We really care about invading a person's sex life when it is politically expedient.
