I sometimes see claims that #python is slow πππ and therefore not greenβ»οΈ but I find its performance really interesting - in 30 minutes I created a tool to optimally select elements from a set with unusual constraints.
Optimally picking 12 ordered elements out of 37 means, naively , finding the best out of 887,342,319,056,793,600 combinations. Using the open source scipy library in python we can solve this case in 25 microseconds.
That's fast enough for me! πππ

rn preparing for my second exam of #linearalgebra , itβs interesting, but i hate that i have to memorize so much stuff
I have done maths at an undergrad CS level before (analysis 1-3 in early 00s germany which was pretty stringent), caught up on statistics a couple of years back (forgot most of it).
#calculus and stats in particular messed with my head back at uni, which might seem counterintuitive, because analysis, #linearAlgebra and theoretical informatics was my jam. I think it's because so much in calculus was about "this one trick mathematicians don't want you to know", which I didn't care about.
Sometimes I think back to the day I dropped a #LinearAlgebra course because I'd been cast in a play and needed to lighten some commitments, and it wasn't required for my major.
I now use LA far more than I thought I would at the time, but wouldn't change being involved in #theater for the interpersonal, communicational, and resilience experience it provided.
