I missed #lingcomm23 for the smallest and most perfect of reasons.
Happy to be home and muddling along as a family. My thanks to all of you posting outside of my usual timezone over the coming weeks and months while we're up at all hours.
Just sharing a bit of delight: we just took the "group photo" over at #LingComm23 in Gather and almost everybody decided to make their little avatars dance and it made me smile so much!
I'm sad that I have to miss the closing plenary, but Zoom calls - gotta teach an online writing workshop for engineers now!
I am TIRED. Teaching 4 classes (2 of my own, 2 workshops in engineering classes) yesterday plus participating in #LingComm23 in between and afterward, and then doing all of the assignment feedback that couldn't get done during the day yesterday after that...ooof. My brain feels like soup today.
Made it to part of a poster session, and then the last two hours of sessions at #LingComm23 today, while also teaching my two usual Tuesday classes plus two workshops. A very full day! Gonna try to sneak in a couple minutes (literally) of violin practice before getting back to assignment feedback before bed.
Got to moderate a panel on linguistics communication and art at #LingComm23 today and it was my first time back on Gather since LingComm 21 and itβs just a delightful platform for online conferences!
Just realized I was so excited to give the opening keynote for #LingComm23 next week that I'd neglected to actually, you know, register for the actual conference
So that's fixed now!
If you're also someone who does lingcomm and hasn't registered yet, you can fix that here:

The International Conference on Linguistics Communication (#lingcomm23) is back in February!

Once again on Gather, withshort days to maximise timezone overlap π
Registration: https://lingcomm.org/conference/register/
Rego starts at $10USD, with waivers for people who can't make that, and the option to pay more to support fees for other participants (I love the #lingcomm community so much)

It was lovely to see old friends and meet new people at #LSA2023 this weekend!
For those interested in doing linguistics communication to broader audiences, the online #LingComm23 @LingComm@twitter.com conference I mentioned is Feb 6-10 and I hope to see you there! http://lingcomm.org/conference
