We are in! @Cyberagentur has joined the #LinuxFoundation (www.linuxfoundation.org). Dr. Sebastian Jester @cyberjestr and Prof. Dr. Tobias Eggendorfer @TEggendorfer signed the membership agreement. The Cyberagentur is thus part of the more than 1000 supporters from the IT industry. "We support the goal of the #Linux community to develop standardised open source software and hardware solutions that everyone can use," says Dr Jester.

There's now the Overture Maps Foundation, with big corporate backers, which wants to be in charge of coordinating open map data.
We already have that in the Open Street Map Foundation (https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Main_Page)
The distinction between the two is certainly more nuanced, but this really feels like an attempt at usurping influence and control of open map projects.
