Right now I can't decide which logging system irritates me the most, linux/systemd's journald or apple/macos' unified log (logd). Please give me back good old text based syslogd and friends.

I never bothered properly setting up #logging, until now that I need to check if #fstrim is run regularly and properly.

I also had to set up #logRotation using #cron (#dcron), and I also set up #anacron (for trimming the boot partition from time to time).

@steffo IMO every beginner-tutorial should advocate #logging instead of print. Just two extra lines at the top of the module. The „main-idiom“ also should be used more aggressively right at the start.
