My biological ancestors were completely unaware of this tradition of making wishes to mythological figures from a culture on the other side of the planet, but I like the aspirational nature of the tradition.

I especially liked the light-speed time delay version from the #Haruhi anime where your wishes come true after 25 years and 16 years due to light speed delay to Vega and Altair; the delay forces you to consider the #LongNow.

- "Blade Runner" (actually Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) by P.K.Dick, movie tie-in when movies will be long forgotten.
- Motherfucking KSR's shitty Mars books, which are slightly less science than CS Lewis' Perelandra (not included).
- Distraction & Holy Fire, by Bruce Sterling, but not Schismatrix, Artificial Kid, Islands in the Net‽ Bullshit.
- Canticle for Liebowitz: Bravo. Well done. Perfect choice.

- HG Wells Anticipations: Obsolete pop-sci from 1901.
