My #Restoration #Ecology class partnered with a local restoration group yesterday. We set up #longterm #monitoring plots that future classes will revisit, and also learned about #riparian restoration and some basic #PlantIdentification

Bonus, it was one of the first nice warm days of spring and a great opportunity to be outside all day. Saw numerous #GreatBlueHerons flying by and some of the first flying #Insects of the season.

Building or equipping a smart house? You might want to think about the consequences.

I live in a house that was built as a smart house about 20 years ago. 20-year-old electronics break down, and the companies that built them are long gone. I never know if the lights are going to turn on or not.

Yet I can walk in a 70-year-old house and be pretty sure when I flip a light switch that it will work.

Think long term.
