Well it will not surprise you to read my scepticism on #electoralReform being on the agenda =- #starmer has adopted the #gordonBrown proposals for #lordsReform and that is a very big ask for a single term by itself. I hope for much improved #euUk relations and moves to closerAlignment short of #singleMarket which I hope will be in the subsequent #manifesto

The 🇬🇧 is lucky indeed to have people like David Anderson in its legislature. But of course there are many ways such unusual people could be involved in legislating without being members. @UKLabour’s proposals over a decade ago included some perfectly sensible ones 🤷‍♂️ #LordsReform

#Labour never has supported #PR - like the Tories, it is not in their selfish interests.

It is the dilemma in any political system - those in power by definition are those favoured by current arrangements, so naturally they are reluctant to change them.

At least #Starmer is committed to #lordsReform - if he gets that done it would be more than #Blair or any previous #labourLeader managed

I am not sure it helps much. #Starmer has committed to #lordsReform - if he does that properly it will be more than #Blair managed.

I suspect many underestimate how hard it is to change fundamentals in the UK political system.
