Wealthy countries should pay for the loss and damage they cause to nature in poorer countries in the same way as for climate impacts.

Aber dort findest Du kein Konzept für die Finanzierung von #LossAndDamage in Form von Wiedergutmachungszahlung.

Stimme #UlrikeHermann zu, dass wir Triage in Industrie und Sachrationen für die Projektdauer machen müssen. Wir fangen an, dann ziehen viele andre Staaten nach. Aber Reparationszahlungsverträge wie bei LossAndDamage oder #GreenClimateFund stehen dem diametral entgegen, verhindern es geradezu.

Some initial reflections on the outcomes of #COP27, especially on the #LossandDamage Fund, and what it means in practice. Having been for many years on the other side of the fence, I tend to see every outcome as a little miracle… 🕯️

Even if wealthy nations poured in billions (and they won't) they'd still consider it a bargain for carrying on Business As Usual. Just the cost of doing business.

Loss and Damage Agreement.

The recent Cop27 agreement on a fund to assist nations in dealing with the adverse outcomes of climate change was hailed as a success.

But will the agreement go beyond words and mitigation measures from wealthy nations to "massage" the numbers through market-based greenwashing measures?

Time will tell, but judging by the success of remaining under 1.5C, I am not hopeful.

More fossil use means more loss and damage.
