Come to think of it, a family of performing artist types (actors, singers, musicians, dancers, etc.) lost in space might be a great premise. Scientists in space is a good premise, but generations of sheer overexposure has made it much staler than artists in space.

It just struck me that "No Time to Die" would have fit in perfectly in "Lost in Space" if the Robinsons were a lot hipper and artsier. The closest we came was Dr. Smith and B-9's delightfully creepy rendition of "Home, Sweet Home" in "The Hungry Sea".
