Early walk with the dogs before lifeboat training at Lough Derg RNLI with Doireann, Tom and Ciara, what a stunning sky, not quite mammatus clouds. #LoughDerg #Skyscape #lifeboatwoman

Honoured my poem ‘Soundings from a Hart’ is included in ‘Romance Options: Love Poems for Today’, a new anthology from the Dedalus Press. Warm congratulations to the editors, poets @LeeanneQuinn and Joseph Woods, the book is brimful with gorgeous poetry.

A Hart is a male red stag and for the first time, that I recall, we are getting rare sightings of stags swimming in Lough Derg. #LoughDerg #Hart #poetry
Back from a walk, #LoughDerg is filling up and spilling over its sides with rain. The dogs disturbed a heron taking shelter in the boathouse - John Kelly perfectly captures its flight in his poem ‘The Local Heron’ in his collection #Space #poetry @dedaluspress
At #LoughDerg, #Celtic folktales say, Patrick killed the #Corra, the `female fiend`, and so turned its waters half red with her blood. `Corr` means `stork`, and has childbirth associations. This featherless bird had the role of the Great Swallower. `The devil‘s mother` was the chieftainness of the demon birds and the pagan energy of the air.
