Today’s update for #ConTeXt #LMTX contains #LuaMetaTeX 2.10.09 and new, configurable multipass paragraph builder.

It is activated with \setupalign[granular] and preliminary documented in lowlevel-lines.pdf (to be enhanced soon).

The current update for #ConTeXt #LMTX is yet another enhancement for math font support and math typography.

Hans Hagen also reports:
“LMTX installs nicely on my Android (12) phone (userland Ubuntu) and #LuaMetaTeX compiles nicely from source (as it’s aarch64) in about a minute. No decent editor [for] real documents but who knows what a properly dockable (linux supporting) phone can do in a few years.”

Tonight’s update for #ConTeXt #LMTX should fix problems with #PGF/#TikZ.

While #MetaPost (#MetaFun) is the graphics language of choice in ConTeXt, TikZ should generally work. But some modules like pgfplots needed new loaders due to the low level changes in #LuaMetaTeX.

Is there anywhere in the Fediverse anyone with decent knowledge of #Context by Pragma ADE?

I'd like to study a little bit more about Context #LMXT but I couldn't find any documentation except for the #ContextGarden wiki:

Mein Buch über #ConTeXt ist jetzt bei 366 Seiten (gesetzt, nicht Manuskript); heute habe ich einen mehrseitigen Abschnitt über #LPEG nach einem Artikel von Taco Hoekwater hinzugefügt. Aber dass ich dieses Jahr noch druckfertig werde, glaube ich nicht mehr... 🙈

Statement of #ConTeXt’s main developer Hans Hagen (slightly edited):

At the context meeting we released #LuaMetaTeX, that is, the source code is now in the ConTeXt zip (so it grew a few MB). At the same time Mojca set up some contextgarden repositories on github*.
We’re working on a setup for users to generate older snapshots, if needed (for instance because there are platform changes).
She’s also working on cmake based installation helpers.

All sorts of #LuaTeX and #LuaMetaTeX binaries are grown in Mojca’s build farm. She also provides for #TeXlive. (And if you look carefully, you’ll find some sorts that aren’t officially supported anymore, but stay while they compile.)

A team in Indonesia is working on a #TeX language server for Visual Studio Code; it also uses the existing LS for #Lua; #MetaPost will follow. (Nothing published yet.)

This effort is part of a very commercial project: A subsidiary of a Swiss bank uses #ConTeXt to create several thousand stock reports per night.

For a small #FOSS project like ours that feels strange, but they’re actively contributing and are paying for support and a #LuaMetaTeX extension to handle #JSON.

There’s a myth that #ConTeXt couldn’t do #math. While that was never true, the improved math typesetting engine in #LuaMetaTeX allows more but needs less tweaking (i.e. WRT spacing) than any other version of #TeX.
