After years of using an internal Maven repository and Github Packages for hosting Maven artifacts, I've finally published one of my libraries to Maven central. I present to you the humble vcr4j library (https://github.com/mbari-org/vcr4j). It was created by #MBARI for our video annotation software to communicate with and control various video players. Originally written to control professional tape decks that we used for recording remotely operated vehicle (ROV) dives in the deep sea. /1

Gelatinous "jellies" are diverse mostly marine #zooplankton best known for True Jellyfish (class Scyphozoa), Box Jellyfish (Cubozoa), and Hydrozoa (Portuguese Man o' War! also the freshwater jellyfish). But, Gelata also include lesser known tunicates (Salps with huge colony chains and Larvaceans with their mucus houses) and the widely distributed Comb Jellies (phylum Ctenophora) known for their cilia which reflect as rainbow prisms.

One of the topics we think a lot about in #MBARI's #BioinspirationLab is how to scale observations of #ocean #life. This extends not only to data analysis pipelines for visual data but also how algorithms can help us achieve true autonomy with our #robotic platforms.

Thanks to #FathomNet (www.fathomnet.org), we now have vehicles that can search for #animals we want to study w/o human input #mltracking. :blobcheer:
