Using #MCUmovies isn't sufficient? It has some of the "Self moderated" pluses of a subreddit but also some of the same problems: people have to remember to use a hashtag (correctly) and sometimes post the same things over and over, etc

An example of a community here I've found is https://scicomm.xyz/@MicrobioJC. It has a self-selecting nature with a topic focus and uses additional tools to enhance the community. They use hashtags, too.

Bills need to be paid, so serving ads, unpaid moderators, subscriptions, Patreon, etc. play a factor in the compatibility.
