@drechsler i've used both as well professionally and privately.
It's not much of a difference for daily work. By going with "flat" you may loose the possibilty to work with automatically included #msbuild files like 'Directory.Build.props' and such.

For me solution folders (within VS) are a stronger and more important tool for structuring larger projets

Two big fixes for #MSBuild -tl in #dotnet 8 preview 6:

1. It's way, *way* less likely to print out`ResolveAssCoreCompile`.
2. If you're on Windows, check your taskbar while a build is going--it should go into the indefinite-progress spin state.
