Can't put my finger in what feels different in #linuxmint 21.3 that wasn't there in 21.2 The main issue is that the Software Manager takes ages to load and once displayed appears to freeze for about 5secs. It's as though it is loading from repositories off-screen but gives no indication that it is doing so. Overall 21.3 just seems to be less fluid. Installed on #MacBookPro

Sadly, #fedora38 doesn't play nicely on my #MacBookPro 2010. #Fedora36 worked out of the box (once RPMfusion was installed!) #Apple left my Mac behind years ago hence switching to #Linux but it seems it's goodbye to Fedora too! Fear not, #Linuxmint saves the day! It may be Windows-Like but I was going off #Gnome44 anyway. It's Rock-Solid, fast, built-in #Flatpak and has no problem powering a large external display! Good job @linuxmint

I just revived my 2013 Macbook Pro, probably my favorite laptop. Seriously its keyboard cannot be beat. I installed @elementary on it. It took some hard work to get WIFI to work as the Linux headers & wifi drivers were not installed. But after that and installing the Nvidia GPU drivers, it is running really well with modern security updates! I can write, triage work email and scheduling, and do basic tasks with this puppy!

It’s time to upgrade my work computer and I am struggling to find a way to keep using Macs/macOS. I currently rely on Parallels to run Windows on my 2020 MacBook Pro to build Windows x86/x64 applications. The Apple Silicon Macs are not a viable option unless I pay for a Windows VM in the cloud. Am I missing any other workarounds? Can I compile x86/x64 apps using Windows on ARM? #softwaredev #windowsonarm #macos #macbookpro

Sad that my old #MacBookAir isn't working anymore. Thank you for the 7 yrs of #productivity. Cool that I was able to stretch it that long. But please work again just so I can get my files back. Lesson: have a backup.

But I'm thrilled to have a new #MacBookPro! I went to 3 malls yesterday looking for an available unit. Apparently, most #M2Chip MacBooks are out of stock in Metro Manila. Thanks to #PowerMac for helping me find the last available unit in NCR.

Just finished setting up a new #MacBookPro and just like my old #MacBookAir, I removed the built-in apps (Safari, Messages, Music, etc) from the dock and replaced them with 3rd party apps (Chrome, Slack, Spotify, etc).

This made me question my life decisions. If I'm not using most of the apps that come with the #MacOS, then why am I using a Mac again? 😂

Meine Drau hat mir aus Vinylfolie Wellen geschnitten und ich durfte sie dann aufbringen. Cool sieht es aus und lässt sich bei Bedarf auch rückstandsfrei entfernen.

Fürs erste Mal schon ziemlich gut und fast ohne Blasen. 😜🤪

#fedora38 Unfortunately my experience of installing on a #MacBookPro didn't go too well! It may be it's age (2010) but although getting WiFi to work via rpmfusion was seemless (thankfully) the CPU was under continued stress, it wouldn't remember me as a user and to keep me logged in, the external monitor couldn't deal with a change of background easily and no spinner splash even though it was installed. Maybe Kernel 6.2 is a step too far for the device or maybe some bugs need sorting! @fedora

This seems to me a poor design decision by #Apple. Better to have the #MacBookPro default to P3-500 when on battery power, but plugging in and/or switching to #XDR gives access to the full brightness range, with HDR available to apps that support it. #UXFail

Surprisingly, #Apple’s own consumer software that displays #HDR content doesn’t necessarily use the extended brightness range.

Even in #XDR-Display mode, #AppleTV, for example, only displays at 500 nits even in full-screen mode, which is bizarre. I guess full HDR mode is intended for pro software only. 😒 #MacBookPro

The #MacBookPro 14” and 16” displays are *insanely* bright—up to 1,000 nits sustained, peaking at 1,600 for HDR—but you need the right software to use this as #Apple caps the system brightness control at 500 nits. #BetterDisplayPro does the job. 👍 https://betterdisplay.pro
