This is especially for activists in the field.

Despite the upstream vendor (ARM) patching at least 5 reported vulnerabilities (CVE-2022-36449) in their Mali GPU driver this Summer (June/July '22):

googleprojectzero.blogspot.com

and even posting patched driver source on their website:

developer.arm.com/downloads/-/

many downstream vendors still haven't applied the upstream patch to their phones:

Affected phones containing a Mali GPU driver include:

- Google Pixel 7
- (this may already be
patched since Google's
own Project Zero reported
the vulns),
- Asus ROG Phone 6
- Redmi Note 11
- Redmi Note 12
- Honor 70 Pro
- RealMe GT
- Xiaomi 12 Pro
- Oppo Find X5 Pro
- Reno 8 Pro
- Motorola Edge
- OnePlus 10R

Any of these phones could have a productized exploit (implant) surveilling the user.

If you have any of the above phones, see if you can switch to another - it may not be possible, but if you can - try until your manufacturer has a fix.
