Devil alert! When I checked this camera on Thursday, my dog decided it was a good spot to poo. I removed the š© but next morning had this video of a devil over-marking the same spot š

How cool to see this cute little eastern quoll pass our #CameraTrap in the early hours this morning š

A devilish visitor last night - possibly our friend Rose #CameraTrap #WildOz #MammalWatching #lutruwita #Tasmania

This southern brown bandicoot friend has been a regular visitor to our cameras lately, but doesnāt usually pose for the camera quite so nicely š #WildOz #MammalWatching #lutruwita #tasmania

I saw all three species of North American bear in 2022. Super cool #mammalwatching highlight.

Donāt think Iāll ever get tired of bettong videos just metres from our back door š 1/2 Hereās a female with a joey tucked safe in her pouch #WildOz #MammalWatching #CameraTrap

Itās not the highest quollity video, but look who we spotted on our #CameraTrap last night š A dark morph eastern quoll - the first one weāve seen in a while #WildOz #MammalWatching #Tasmania #lutruwita

A busy night to be a bettong last night, with 12 #CameraTrap videos in 2 hours showing (possibly the same) eastern bettong hopping around the forest collecting nesting material curled up in its tail. From the clearest pics, it looks as though she has a joey in her pouch š #WildOz #MammalWatching

Fancy seeing some #hamsters and other #wildlife around #vienna?
Here is the how-to:

Iāve learned that the file size limit for uploads here means that I canāt post more than 10 seconds of my #CameraTrap footage at a time. So hereās the next 10 second snippet of our bettong friend gathering new bedding materials. It moved off camera shortly afterwards #WildOz #MammalWatching #wildlife #nature

Did you know that bettongs have prehensile tails and use them to collect and carry new bedding? This eastern bettong visited our #CameraTrap last night. You can see it gathers bark and sticks with its little front feet, then uses its big back feet to kick them into the bundle curled in its tail. This bettong has a big bundle - after some very wet weather we had a dry sunny weekend so perfect time for a new mattress :)

Introducing another #WildOz friend from our #CameraTrap. This is a southern brown bandicoot (Isoodon obesulus). These #bandicute marsupials dig nice little holes in the forest floor to find food (invertebrates, fungi, fruits) and in the process they contribute to important ecosystem processes like nutrient and water cycling, seed and spore dispersalā¦ If you donāt know me yet youāll soon learn that bandicoots are some of the best Australian mammals ;) #MammalWatching #wildlife #nature

Potoroo #CameraTrap video number 3 - possibly the same pair of potoroos seen on our other camera (about 50m away) yesterday evening

Potoroo #CameraTrap video number 2 - probably a male following the first (female?) potoroo

This morningās #CameraTrap treat was daylight potoroos! These are long-nosed potoroos (Potorous tridactylus) - very cute little #marsupials. Iāll post two related videos as replies. #WildOz #MammalWatching
1/3 I suspect the smaller potoroo in this 1st video is a female
2/3 the larger potoroo in the 2nd video is probably a male following her around
3/3 in the 3rd video, a similar pair of potoroos on our other camera from yesterday evening, meaning he may have been following her all nightā¦

As we release an eastern #quoll, he looks back as if to say, "I will remember you."
And then he was gone.

I love watching #echidnas walk. It's like someone is learning how to operate a remote-controlled robot.
