@afif @IceCubesApp I try not to criticise #icecubesapp but the sounds are a little harsh, (but not as harsh as those in #MammothApp), especially the compose sound. One thing I do prefer about #IvoryApp are the unobtrusive sounds.

Been using the #MammothApp for little bit (test flight) and I’m loving it so far.
#MammothApp is my favourite after #Metatext which I still use when I want to share via the Share Sheet. My requests just now:
• Ability to share content using Mammoth via the Share Sheet
• Tweak to fix alignment of news articles in the news carousel. Each one ends up x pixels right of the left edge until the last one is quite far over from the left and cropped off the right end.
• Alt text that is displayed on tapping a full screen image rather than a modal dialog.
• Media grid view for posts with more than one image.
• Option to automatically play videos and animated GIFs in the timeline/post view previews.
• Media preview containers with the same ratio/shape as the media they contain.
• Post counter to show reliably as well as the same timeline loading/scrolling that’s been mentioned by others.
• More reliable loading of user profiles on other communities/instances.
• Option for a semi-transparent & background blur in the tab bar and header. For me it makes the timeline in MetaText seem more immersive.
• Custom icons! ☺️
Keep up the awesome work! ❤️
@fraying I wonder if posts like “Huh. Progress.” are exactly the sort of posts Mastodon is wanting to avoid?
Imagine #MammothApp would score it as negative sentiment.
My wife has a dentist appointment in town which is a great excuse to go with her and set up in Costa for a short while. I haven’t done this for a while and it is a fun way to spend an hour or so, watching people whilst streaming YouTube on my iPhone and looking across Mastodon on #mammothapp on my iPad.
@adammike @danbri @TerynceTeaches @alastair @lrhodes I believe Mastodon’s approach is that we create our own posts about a thing with our own take. QTing to do it is simply a shortcut and risks creating bandwagons.
Coming up with something of our own to post to explain our point of view on a thing is certainly harder than simply adding a commentary on someone else’s.
I’m sure something will come along eventually. Right now my app of choice (#MammothApp on iOS) supports no end of post sharing methods that I can use to share/reference one post in other post. With inline link previews they look similar to QTs.
#mammothapp is the most feature rich Mastodon client on iOS at the moment. There are a lot of good apps to try - find one that suits your way of working. Great work by @JPEGuin and all of the @mammoth team.
If you are on #ios, enjoy using Mastodon and are not part of the #Mammothapp beta test then please try to get on it. Right now there isn’t an app as good as this for daily use on here using an iPhone / iPad. The rate and quality of the development work by @JPEGuin is astounding.
@adhdjesse @illumi241 +1 for #Metatext however it’s developer is looking to hand over to someone new due to health issues. #MammothApp is promising (though not yet so easy to switch timelines). You can get to a TestFlight version of Mammoth by tapping that hashtag I included.
@neetautistic somewhere in my posts I shared about an app on iOS that’s in development. It’s called Mammoth (#MammothApp should find it) and looks like it might be a simpler UI for Mastodon. Simpler even than #Metatext.
The website is a bit much I agree. Especially if you’ve inadvertently turned on ‘advanced mode’).
@vy_thefifthmookie you can try a prerelease version of #MammothApp (though not every feature or setting is quite finished) by checking out this post: https://mastodon.social/@JPEGuin/109315609418460036
Shihab makes some great apps.
@vy_thefifthmookie #Metatext all day long. #MammothApp is coming along nicely though.
