Okay, here are some of the projects I have lined up for when I get back:
1) switch my main Windows 11 pc to #linux
2) a new #mechanicalKeyboard build
3) test out multiple @postmarketOS DEs on the #MangoPi
4) put #Steam on the kiddo’s pc for some #Minecraft love

Here are the past few experiments I did with the #MangoPi:

Using Ubuntu Server I tested the following window mangers:
-IceWM
-Ratpoison
-Jwm

All ran like butt. Now for shizz and giggles I am gonna imstall XFCE deaktop to see how it compares to the Armbian version.

After following @distrotube video on installing a WM on #UbuntuServer, I was successful on getting #IceWM on the #MangoPi.

Oh man, this is going to make #distrohopping on the #MangoPi mich more easier 😏

Well, I uploaded 2 pictures from the CLI of my Mango Pi from the Toot package… it said they went through. Maybe there is a delay? 🤷‍♀️

For now I have switched back to #Armbian on the #MangoPi . Since hopping around some new packages are available and I was able to install #Newsboat and #Cmatrix.

I'm very much diggin' the theming I put in place :ferrisdance:

I am trying something new. I have installed @postmarketOS onto my #MangoPi with @i3wm. It's been pretty interesting :ageblobcat:

Well, #UbuntuServer was a bust. The few programs that I wanted did not run or ran to poorly on the #MangoPi MQ-Pro. I have a few others #OS to try... Lets see which one I get to boot first... :headdesk:

Alright, here is what my #Linux noob butt got accomplished on my lil #MangoPi MQ-Pro so far:
- #UbuntuServer up and running
-Wifi configured and working
- #Htop installed
- #Terminews installed
-Added some RSS feeds

To do:
-Add more #RSS feeds
-Install #Tmux if available for #riscv

Woot woot! All is up and running well! Even though the case was designed for a Raspberry Pi, all the ports are accessible. I added some foam feet and placed a Mango Pi sticker on it for a little fun. At the moment Im not sure if I want to adhere the wifi/bluetooth antenna.

Ubuntu 23.04 server on #mangopi mq pro.

Wow, it's so incredibly slow. Not Ubuntu itself, but this little computer.

I saw an article about the handheld 386 and contemplated how it much slower it would be than this. Maybe not much since you'd just be running DOS on program at a time.

Well I was able to do what I set out to do; my lil #MangoPi is an awesome little terminal #RSS reading machine!

Now I can follow @thelinuxcast, @benjaminhollon, @thelinuxEXP, and more from the humble command line :mastodon_oops:

In the process of updating/upgrading the #MangoPi. Hopefully I dont #bork it up 🤞
