Aministie Internationale se prononce sur l'affaire d'un site d'enfouissement situé au nord de Winnipeg, qui pourrait contenir les restes de plusieurs femmes autochtones assassinées.

«Amnesty International has joined a growing list of organizations calling on Premier Heather Stefanson to change course on her decision not to offer assistance to get the Prairie Green Landfill searched for the remains of two Indigenous women, and the human rights organization is calling the province’s current inaction on a search “indefensible” and “appalling.”»

One of the @ManitobaGreens new policies as per our most recent SGM.

We would propose that the government commit to developing dedicated safe spaces for 25LGBTQIA+ refugees & housing at least 750 2SLGBTOIA+ refugees before 2028 or about 10% of annual refugees received.

Catholic Priest accused of SA’ing an 8 year old First Nations child.

More victims have come forward as well.

Absolutely disgusting act. And as far as I’m concerned the church is liable for every single one of these cases.

As far as organizing locally I’m very inexperienced at this and have quite a bit of social anxiety but it does feel like doing the majority of what I do online is basically useless and yelling into the void.

I have some ideas but I don’t really know if I should just jump into it or if I should build up a website and get some little pamphlets printed out first so it’s not just some random person with nothing there first.

I would be willing to work with anyone as long as we have some basic goals and ideas that we can agree on. It’s not easy to determine what those demands should be because it’s really hard to estimate impact and going too big feels like something that would easily be dismissed.

I know that V can be very effective in gaining power, but at what point is it a viable option? I feel like this convoy shit coming back without response from govt is a valid target. The question becomes, because that position is the more popular one in how can you frame it as a necessity?

V is both underused and utilized poorly, I cannot just stand by and watch people continue to get fucked and while I still have the capacity to act it feels like something that is a moral imperative but going in alone is also not advisable.

We need to unite and here in this area to have the best chance to actually make change happen. The majority of the population has no idea what is going on or why they’re being screwed so much. But the end goal must be an equitable democratic system.

Another issue in is the decentralized Model that it currently uses with dispersion of power through the provinces, meaning any major non-electoral movement must be federal.

So it limits the realistic to electoral reform and I like anyone on the far left has to realize how hard that will be and the time isn’t really in our favour.

So the question becomes what is the best way to make noise? Electoralism? Direct Action through organizing? All the above?

The reality of and the within. going into 2023.

The 3 main parties are relatively close to each other on an ideological level and one of the reasons why people are feeling more and more isolated from the democratic process is simple. We have 3 Liberal parties
NDP-Social Liberal
LPC- NeoLiberal
CPC-Classical/conservative Liberal

With some MPs being exceptions to the rules. But with how whipped the voting blocs are in parliament there is very little room in the main 3 parties to be an independent voice even if you want to be.

If you could fall into the Democratic Party in the US you’re not that special. And literally all 3 party leaders would be Dems.

Singh (NDP) is your Warren type. Vocally progressive but politically fairly useless.

Trudeau is slightly to the right of Biden, economically and slightly left socially.

Pierre is far too socially liberal to be a Republican. Economically he’s just a moron and that fits in perfectly in the DNC.

So what’s the point here? The point is that outside of a few localist MPs practically no one in Canada is actually democratically represented.

We on the far left can take advantage of these idiots in power by working together with independent unions and local orgs to really put pressure on both federal and provincial levels of government. We are going to need to get people radicalized as quickly as we can because I fear that with the constant tilt right wards we are going to be in a lot of pain in the coming years.

Canada is broken.

We have politicians who don’t represent anyone but legacy media, telecom and grocery giants. We have politicians who shill for the military industrial complex and are rewarded with massive contracts for their ridings. We’re spending more money in Ukraine than we are on our own military. Where CAF members are going homeless.

The state has proven time and time again that it is not on the side of the people. It is not working with the best interest of the population who relies on it. We can either sit back and take it or we can fight back

Looking to organize some of the more radical folks to some combined actions.

We have seen the failures of government both locally, provincially and federally and it only seems like a matter of time before we will need to come together to stop atrocities or play offence.

We’ve seen several targeted attacks on homeless encampments in in the last few weeks. We have seen LGBTQ folks murdered, we have seen the lack of care by the imperialist RCMP and the corporate controlled WPS.

and those aligned with anti-state action should come together before it’s too late.

Prepare, Train, Organize, Repeat.

It’s not enough for each of us to be on our own island we must work together if we want to achieve anything meaningful or decisive.

This is my first post here and since I'm a plesiosaur researcher I though showing an image of a plesiosaur is a good start.
This photo shows a model of Trinacromerum kirki, a polycotylid found in Manitoba (Canada). Part of the original specimen is included in the mount. It is shown in the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg, a great museum that could I visit last month.

Came across this article today and it reminded me of some neat tracks I found in the snow during a walk last winter. Although, the prey (rabbit? squirrel?) in my photo certainly wasn't hidden beneath the snow!

phys.org/news/2022-11-great-gr

"Researchers from the University of California, Discover Owls and the University of Washington have discovered how great gray are able to find and capture voles under two feet of snow.

The work involved venturing into the forests of , , which is covered every winter by a thick blanket of snow.

They found that white noise was able to penetrate thin layers of snow, but only very low-frequency noise was able to penetrate deep snow. The researchers note that great gray owls have large, round faces with feathers that reflect sound, making it possible for them to hear low-frequency sounds, such as those made by voles digging through snow."
