One of my favorite corners and streets in the East Village. It's one of the oldest streets in Manhattan and runs diagonally from 9th Street at Third Avenue to 10th Street near Second Avenue. It's where Marcel Duchamp and many other artists resided.

Marcel Duchamp with A regarder d’un oeil, de près, pendant presque une heure
(To Be Looked At, With One Eye, Close To, For Almost An Hour)

Duchamp referred to this as his "Small Glass". Even though a cruel set of commands, Duchamp insisted that his directive serve as its title. But the owner of this work, Katherine Dreier, hated the title, and referred to it instead as Disturbed Balance.

Trying to avoid overdosing on news today, I listened to Noah Charney's The Devil in the Gallery: How Scandal, Shock, and Rivalry Shaped the Art World, during my otherwise soggy commute.

Runs the gamut from to to . Enjoyable to hear about scandal that propels art forward, if you're into that sort of thing.
