Fritz Lang's Rancho Notorious (1952) belongs to the strange wondrous overheated western melodrama sub-genre. An odd very stylised western that makes no concessions to realism. In its own way as bizarre and unusual as Forty Guns. I loved it.

This film is an expression of von Sternberg’s uncompromising aesthetic principles. Substance doesn't matter, because the style IS the substance.

One of the greatest movies of all time.

Dietrich is extraordinary as Lola Lola, a surprisingly complex and ambiguous femme fatale.
