Marshall Crenshaw - Mary Jean and 9 Others

I honestly don't know why Marshall Crenshaw never really "hit". These first albums were chuck full of poppy, impeccably crafted songs, played by a band that toured pretty relentlessly.

And yet, it was not to be. But hey - at least we've got the music.

This is *probably* the lesser of the first four albums, but they're all strong. Plus it's 80s jangle, so we've got both Mitch Easter and Don Dixon onboard.

Coming up later… Marshall Crenshaw's first album. Bought this at Midland Records on Thayer Street in Providence, and the band did a little acoustic in-store set and signed copies.

The store wasn't big - it was a nice surprise to have them there.
