There was a #MaryBeard programme on #TV last night about "shocking" art and it ...

wasn't shocking.

It was actually very slow. At one point she looked at some #Buddhist paintings of a decaying corpse and they were #comicbook in style and probably far less shocking than what you find in actual comic books.

They really tried to make the concept of Roman charity shocking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Charity as if allegory should only be taken literally 🙄
