Joining the #MaryQuant chorus today to sing her praises for being one of fashion's absolute units.

The fashion industry contributes to the world's pollution, inequality, consumerism and waste, and MQ did help drive some of that in her day. Must be said.

But her bold, supermodern aesthetic was fun and freeing, especially for women, and helped a lot of ppl turn the corner into a reimagined, more expansive future. RIP icon.

RIP Mary Quant. I think I must have made most of her Butterick patterns for mini skirts and dresses in the 60s and 70s. I couldn't afford her clothes on my meager Saturday job wages (even the cheaper Ginger Group range), but I loved her designs. She shaped fashion for decades to come.
