Does anyone in the #MastoDev space know how to update the description of an attachment on status edition? The Http PUT method at the endpoint /api/v1/media works for posting a status, but not for editing it. Can anyone help me?

I looked at how the official web app is doing it, and seems like the locale is passed down using HTML instead of queried using the API: `data-props='{"locale:"en"}'`. Leaves me wondering: Is there an API endpoint that gives me the user's locale, or do I have to scrape this information from the HTML?

Does anyone know a way to query the logged-in account's locale using the Mastodon API? From what I can tell, I need this to determine whether to show the Translate button or not.

#MastoDev, is there a way I can grab the ID of a status I got from another instance (say fosstodon.org), and get the relevant status from my home instance?

#MastoDev, Are accountIDs unique for the whole fediverse? Or are they a per server thing? I am trying to get a profile from an accountID that I got from the local timeline of another instance, and it always returns 404

I'm curious how far the reach of these subscriptions are though. Do I only see posts from servers with accounts I follow, or all servers that somehow connect to mine, or some other possibility I didn't think of? 🤔
