I think every new user should be given a temporary account and be encouraged to migrate to their permanent instance.

This would provide useful knowledge and experience to more of the community and solve the "I can't pick" problem for new users.

They get some time using the Fediverse before deciding which instance they like best.

So mastodon.lol is shutting down in three months and I need to find a good trans friendly Mastodon instance.

Please tell me what instance you're on and make a case to me as to why I should move there.

Edit: I looked at some of the servers suggested. Some are just too small, too big, or their rules are too strict. I'm actually thinking in leaving Mastodon altogether. :(

I realise when I’m composing toots on here that I’m still behaving in a way that expects to be spammed with stuff that I’m not interested in, just because I mentioned something once.
My last toot being an example. I would normally feel wary of the algorithm bombarding me with similarly themed (unwanted) posts.

What not a lot of people seem to be talking about is what happens if an instance goes down. Mastodon's migration tools only work when the original instance is still live. 1/2
