#Fediverse-Newbees werden auf eine einzige Instanz gelockt. Instanzen können offenbar verkauft werden. Wer das Gros der User hält, kann anderen Instanzen mit Deföderierung drohen.

"Gezwungen" steht da nicht. "Vorgeschlagen" ist stark verniedlicht, wenn dort "join #mastodonDotSocial" steht und nicht etwa "choose an instance". Selbst in letzterem Fall bliebe die Vorauswahl problematisch, da bekanntermaßen bei Neuinstallationen fast immer die Vorauswahl belassen wird. #mastodonSocial

Also, I think marginalised people had recived lots if hate from #MastodonDotSocial-users. So instances that want to protect their users from this would de-federate.

This is a main reason why I asked in the first place: I would like to learn about those instances.

I'm curious:
Is there some overview of the fediverse on #instances level ? Like who federates with whom ?

I would guess theres ~3 clusters: some nazi-instances only federating amongst themselfs; instances federating with mastodon.social ; and instances NOT federating with #MastodonDotSocial .

Something that shows these clusters would be intersting.

@feditips maybe you have something at hand ?

Whats the current thing with mastodon.social ? Last time I kind of cared for it, it had closed registration in favor of mastodon.online I think?

But it seems to register new users now ?
