I didn't "turn on" my Mastodon and have all this great stuff leap out at me. I had to be a little pro-active. Which sounds like work but is more like play.

For me, it's mostly a simpler interface and system, the ability to pick how much censorship you want, and the devs actually use the platform and engage with the users, meaning more updates and updates that more or less appeal to many of the users, rather than #Twitter which sometimes adds features nobody wants or asks for.
