I feel like this needs to be repeated every week or so:
#MastodonIsNotTwitter
#ThisIsNotTwitter
#StopTryingToMakeMastodonLikeTwitter
Oh, and for those who refuse to accept that they’ve migrated to a different social media platform, and insist on making it just like #Twitter, I say to them:
#GTFO. Now.
#MastodonIsNotTwitter #thisisnottwitter #stoptryingtomakemastodonliketwitter #twitter #gtfo
@mike I took a ton of flack for this position a few weeks back. But it's the truth. #MastodonIsNotTwitter
@nicholasr @futurebird The greatest persisting advantage of the #Fediverse is that it's not a compromised, corrupt & unethical #BigAntiSocial.
Let's keep it like that!

@mike_logic It's like mastodon's wise folks use to say:
On the birdsite their algorithms control & manipulate your timeline & behavior,
while here, you're having the chance to be the (free) "algorithm" to make the best of your & others' timeline — which even works without #QTs!
#QTS #qt #beamastodon #MastodonIsNotTwitter
@iamcanehdian @liztai @Quinnae_Moon Yup. The birdsite did not really fundamentally change for the better by the introduction of "quote tweets", so why shouldn't we be fine without sth like it here!
It's not an essential or vital thing necessary to keep us moving forward.
😎👈 It may be shocking to some birdsite émigrées, but guess what:
There was a time, when "quote tweets" didn't exist on the birdsite!
#qt #QTS #MastodonIsNotTwitter #mastodonsalive
@iamcanehdian @liztai @Quinnae_Moon For many birdsite émigrés adapting to the lack of "quote tweets" is like being tossed into cold turkey.
While it's basically just a matter of newly familiarizing with conditions existing here.
IMO everyone should be able to survive without #QT.

@taylorlorenz don't repost, join the discussion. If you comment on someone else's post, it will show up for your followers.
People need to rember this is a social networking tool, not a social media site. Use it to build a following of your own social media platforms like your profile at WaPo, medium, substack, or your personal website.
Please stop complaining that Mastodon is not Twitter. It isn't that way for a reason. Keep #kevetching and people will unfollow you #MastodonisNOTtwitter
#kevetching #MastodonIsNotTwitter
You do think twice about posting an image on Mastodon for a joke when you realize it’s going to take a few minutes more to describe what that image is and that your description is not going to do it justice for anyone partially sighted. #ableism #ImageDescriptions #MastodonIsNotTwitter #ButIShouldHaveDoneThatOnTwitterToo

I just wanted to say how happy I am here at Mastodon. People here are decidedly human. Kind humans. Ones that are able to have a conversation without spewing propaganda. Ones that respect one another. Being here gives me hope that all isn't lost, and that there are enough of us to make the world brighter.
Please, everyone, keep this alive. We need discourse. We need kindness. We need each other.

ok, pausing for now. Is that enough, @hauschildt?
Also, dear friends, remember #MastodonIsNotTwitter
I appreciate the stars--I really do. yet, if you do not boost this thread, the stars are reinforcing to me alone. if you want others to see, you got hit the boost / RT button
@JeremyLittau There's definitely a danger on Mastodon not just of servers becoming silos, but of broader multi-server cultural schisms (to avoid stronger words) ...
I'm also pondering the ephemeral nature of Mastodon as a game changer. Most people aren't even aware of that yet (and are more focused on the lack of full-text search), but it dramatically changes how people/accounts evolve.
Ok...mastodon get's weird now.. but not in a good way.
I have a feeling people have learned to create attention in "tweets" by using weird word creations. Weird kind of questions. Overpositive statments or weird composed accusations.
And i don't like it at all.
I hhope they learn that it ain't neccesary here in Mastodon since it is a chronologic timeline. :artcapy2:
Just use #Hashtags to find your crowd.

@estebanmoro @jeffjarvis We should always add new functionality but let us not turn mastodon into twitter (or anything other product for that matter). Their DNA is and must be kept distinct.
Those who want twitter are free to use twitter.

Please, please, PLEASE use #CW on anything controversial, religious, political - anything that you think would bother a swath of people. Use a pithy #CW title and people will read your post.
@Mastodon isn't supposed to be about YOU grandstanding with your shocking or controversial posts. Consider continuing that using #Twitter if you like that sort of thing. #Mastodon is about #Community and intertesting #Conversations. At least it should be.

Let me count the ways...
7. Twitter is a consumer product designed to make money from your posts. Mastodon is co-created by everyone who uses it.
OK. I'm done. Go ahead and add more....

6. With Mastodon, there's really nowhere to direct your complaints. You can complain to the volunteers who run your instance, but they can politely tell you that if you don't like their instance you should find another one. You could complain to the volunteers who write the code, but it's an amorphous group. With Twitter, your complaints are probably going to be ignored, but at least there is someone to complain to (if you like to complain).
