Code intercepts search API, and additionally pulls timeline stream and searches toots on it.

Privacy? Security? It uses your actual timeline, toots you can simply scroll down to.

That's why it's a bit slow too. But it works!

Every instance admin got all the data and all the tools to search anything for any reason. It's right there in the database. Admins (even signle-instance admins) get search, and petty lay public get platitudes how our privacy is upheld.

#Mastodon's stakeholders are beholden to instance admins, that's the truth.

I am currently prototyping a browser 'extension' script for #MastodonSearch.

Pulling 'timeline' into memory exactly as when you scroll it, then text-search that content and show results.

Slower, yes. But being able to search back an account's history is more important than speed.

Simple #MastodonSearch enablement: inject a script that hijacks /api/v2/search?q=... by fetching timeline and doing search inside the browser UI.
