I just found the "Follow hashtag" feature in #Mastodon ! Seems the android app still doesnt have this so I had to switch to #Tusky .

PSA friendly reminder that unless you change your post privacy to 'unlisted' when you reply (some clients do this automatically, not all though), that toot goes straight on your public timeline and directly to your followers, who then get to see a lot of confusing out-of-context replies 😅

Can’t decide between @IceCubesApp and @MonaApp. The latter wins hands down for multi-community support (on #icecubes UX is clunky) and threading in the timeline. The former has better gif support and overall experience is slightly better esp for tag discovery. #mona #mastodon #MastodonTips

When I first joined Mastodon, one of the tips I found very helpful, and one I don’t see people Toot about enough is pinning your #Introduction Toot to the top of your profile page. When I Follow someone new I always see if they have done that. If they have I always Boost their Intro. #MastodonTips

I've been on #Mastodon for a couple of weeks now but still haven't figured out one thing:
Is there a way not to have on the federated timeline the people that you follow and whose toots appear on you home timeline? It's quite annoying seeing the same toots repeating on the two timelines.

When you follow a tag, is there a way to get only a proportion of posts in that tag, or to temporarily mute it for a period of time? I follow some tags that I get a lot of value from, so I don't want to be unfollowing and refollowing them, but at times they are so high-volume they overwhelm the rest of my timeline and I miss what the people I follow are saying. #FediTips #MastodonTips

Are there tools that will make it easy for me to create a new list with all of my followed accounts quickly?

An issue I have with the "hashtags are the way" philosophy is that they're super noisy and drown out the posts from people I actually know.

I'm only now realizing that many of my friends are on #Mastodon and are posting, but I just never see them in my feed unless I subscribe to notifications for them (which creates other issues).

Hi!

When you have a link from another server, and you copy it, go back to your page. Then look for the icon that is the hashtag. Click it.

It has a search box. Paste the link you copied into that search box. Press done or return, whichever shows, and wait. That person's profile will come up on your server, you will have connected via the two servers.

It's like if we both have different emails and we are communicating all that we both have different email providers.
