#Mastodon hit 10 000 000 users yesterday. I wonder why there has been so little fanfare. And there has been huge increase in the influx of new users in recent days for some reason. Maybe because Mastodon works great. Anyway, congratulations!

I cannot understand where does this new uptick of #mastodonusers come from. A week or two ago it was smth like 200-300 new users in an hour. Last week it was smth like 6-700. Today it is like 1100-1300. Elon Musk has not done anything particularly silly, has he.

I find it kind of weird, the people on here criticizing people who recently made Mastodon accounts and then stopped using them because they apparently decided it wasn't for them. It's not proof that they're shallow people chasing that social media high. All it means is Mastodon wasn't what they wanted for any number of reasons.
