Right now, I have to hardcode it, and can't find it in the usual places (global variables, local db storage, etc). I checked out the source a little too. Still no clue.

It's very shiny, but a little lacking in the feature department. For example, it doesn't appear to implement filter yet.

But trying it is easy; if you're already logged in on your browser, it only takes a couple extra clicks to log in here.

I figured out how to stop my mastodon web interface from playing sound: go to the notifications, on the top right there's an icon that looks like 3 sliders - click on that to turn off all of the "Play Sound" settings

It may be different on other web interfaces as I believe mstdn.jp has an older install

In my opinion, settings like this are better unified under Preferences > Notifications (which confusingly is asking me about email notifications)

so ive seen #mastodon (#mastodonWeb) allows you to select the language in which you're writing but i can't find that function in any of the apps ive tried so far

does this serve any function? can content be filtered by language to see toots in languages i understand? is there any (ios) app that supports it?
