This #Metatext iOS app for #mastodon is better than the official one.

Two big pluses:
- feeds (especially the federated one) don't refresh automatically when you're scrolling them, so no chance of losing something interesting
- font size and color scheme is a bit better. Not a 100% fan of the dark theme, but it feels more native to iOS and less of a PWA

In the mastodon iOS app, when replying to a thread, what should the appropriate setting be to remain “unlisted” (as in the web app) and not pollute the normal feed with out of context posts? Is it just unlisted by default when replying?

@itsian The full size images are the best in #MastodoniOS. I also love how CW content is displayed where the content is overlayed with blur and text saying tap to reveal instead of the blue bubbles in #metatext. But I still use meta for replies if I want them unlisted vs public, when I upload GIFs, and when I’m catching up on missing posts since meta loads up while iOS down.

I already forgot how the timeline looked on #Metatext prior to this update but I think it looks cleaner visually…maybe the width was updated and content is stacked nicer. However, I still prefer #MastodoniOS’ timeline visually because of full size images. If the iOS app updated to support posting GIFs, unraveling missing posts upward, I’d probably use it almost exclusively.

@mvyugo @SpockResists Some servers have seen a 100x increase in just two weeks, in one case, going from under 200 users to over 10,000. Not sure many servers anywhere could handle that sort of increase without a few glitches.

The web version seems to handle stress better (and has features the apps do not), but my experience has been remarkably glitch free over 10 days of being here. 🤞 🍀 🙏

I totally agree, unfortunately, and I've tried 4 of them now...

I keep coming back to the Safari PWA experience of my server instance as it's the only way I've found to have all of the Mastodon functionality.

However, this means I also have to have a separate PWA for each server instance. I have to have more than one server instance as I haven't found one yet which lets me communicate in more than one language (French for me).

I did enjoy using the #MastodonIOS app last week for a change (it definitely looks and feels slick), but I think I’m going to return to #Tootapp, which feels more robust, fully featured, and I like the way it handles complex threads

@supernovae Web in advanced mode on my PC. Both #MastodoniOS and the web on my iPhone. That app gives me notifications but I feel the web interface is superior at this point and necessary to access things like filters and other settings while I’m still getting myself set up how I want it

I can do it from a web browser (like here).

But I can't see a new line/enter key in the keyboards of either Mastodon or MetaText iOS apps. I'm being silly, right?
