I'm really happy about 'self correcting science in action' here. This is how it should happen!

If you have the means to help an underpaid visiting assistant math professor and an unemployed math PhD student struggling to pay for food, bills, and two rents while living 1600 miles apart, please donate. #AcademicTwitter #STEM #math #MathTwitter

Happy #FDOC! Today I'm mixing it up and using @solidangles' "Is It a Number?" adaptation with my #MATH596 ISTs. Very interested to see how this discussion goes.

Hey #MathTwitter! Here's a little something inspired by @matthematician's "is-it-a-sandwich" activity and #HoagieHomies everywhere. 🥪
What makes a number, a NUMBER?
Would love to hear your thoughts! 🙂

It's like, kind of noisy trying to keep up with all of you.

it seems that for now #MathTwitter effectively became #MathMastodon (or simply http://mathstodon.xyz), whereas the rest of my Twitter neighbourhood pretty much stuck here
Hey #MathTwitter and #Mathstodon, do any of you use (e-)portfolios as your primary assessment strategy? I'm looking for the right digital tool for it that's not Bl*ckb*ard or a shared Google folder.
I miss seeing all the great content on #MathTwitter. Hope to be able to re-create as much of that vibe here on #MathMastodon as possible. #Math

@kimdayers I was never on Twitter, came here for maths/academia talk and followed a bunch of people with interesting posts or profiles in that vein that I came across. So far the most interesting and fun posts came out of whatever was on people's mind.
I guess I came here looking for a community like #MathTwitter, but I didn't want to go on Twitter...
@kimdayers As a refugee from #MathTwitter, I like to see math posts. But I also post on computer stuff, current events, coffee, cooking & cats. And I read even more.
My long-time pal and Zoom Crasher, Bob the Cat (of blessed memory) is shown in the attached photo below.
Hey #MathTwitter: How do you remember definitions?
As in, in what format do you store them as information? As sequences of logical information ("∀ε>0 ∃δ>0...")?
Or as more verbose ideas that allow you to reconstruct their logical content ("outputs get close when inputs do")?
Okay, I found a smattering of folks from #MathTwitter - so I’m not completely alone, over here.
Just realized there's a whole ton of mastodon instances that have never even HEARD of #mathtwitter....brb, gonna go steal all of the good jokes from the last 4 years, get ready for some bangers
@jennyrae Yeah I kinda wish we could join multiple servers (or at least port multiple local feeds in if we wanted!)
I'm trying to find #mathtwitter and also #scicomm people and the various international journalists I want to follow.... also I want to find the accounts that just post weird facts or pretty pictures all day
#introduction I’m Mohabat (mohabattt over on #MathTwitter) and I’m a math PhD candidate at Western University in London, Ontario. My research focuses on looking at random graphs geometrically (via their generating polynomials). This term, I’m co-organizing the math grad seminar at Western (featuring both math and applied math talks) and teaching two sections of first year calculus. I’m excited to join this platform and see so many familiar faces/names 💜
Ok hi #mathTwitter folks! I’m Kim Ayers, assistant professor at Cal State San Marcos. Hoping Elon doesn’t destroy my wonderful online community, giving this a try :)

Don't scroll past without retweeting! We're at 65% and @StephDoesMath@twitter.com still needs help with this in order to pay off the bursar account balance so she can register for spring classes!

Trying to use the migration from the bird app as an opportunity to be more active here!
First, a question to former #mathtwitter peeps: What are some areas within discrete math that need the textbook treatment? Polytope-related would be a plus. Considering putting together a book proposal at the Ideals, Varieties, and Algorithms level.
Sharing this toot is very welcome!
Apropos of nothing, I guess I’ll give this whole tooting thing a try. #mathtwitter where ya at?
