Dems would've been better off embracing #McConaughey if they wanted to get more independent votes away from #Abbott (and even shave off some #MAGA). The gun culture here is too strong. Even TX liberals are hunters. That doesn't mean nothing can be done about AR-15s, it just means that #Beto doesn't know how to message the issue. I was not surprised that #Uvalde voted for Abbott.
